Madrid is one of the most fun cities you can visit in Spain. There’s always something happening, no matter if it’s Tuesday or Friday, you will find all the restaurants, bars and clubs full of people looking to have a good time. I have many friends here, and every time I visit, they take me to new fabulous places. It’s hard to keep updated! The only bad thing I see in this city is their football club Real Madrid! Haha forgive me Madrid friends but you know I’m a total Barça fan 🙂
From basically anywhere in the world you will find a direct flight to Madrid. The main Spanish airlines are Iberia, Air Europa and Vueling.
From Barcelona the best option is to take the high speed train AVE , 2h30 and you are here.
WHERE TO STAY
In my last trip to the capital I have tried something new. I decided to live the local Madrid experience by staying at one of the apartments of the rising new company BeMate . Top quality apartments in the best locations with 5 star service and 24h concierge. We could say it’s like an Airbnb for very cool apartments with the added value of the personal service. Will use again forsure!
In case you decide to stay in a hotel, my all time favorite is Villa Magna!
WHAT TO DO
There are soooo many museums to visit, and I’m sure you already searched on Google, so I’m gonna stick to my side of the story and tell you what I like to do in the city!
Now that the weather is getting warmer, Madrid is perfect for having a cocktail in a nice terrace. There are many worth visiting, check out the Roomate Oscar Hotel rooftop and Ramses.
WHERE TO SHOP
Walk around the Salamanca area, there are a million shops. My favorite multi brand store is Ekseption. There is one new fashion brand that I just discovered, Solantu , making sustainable Crocodrile bags, super cool, check it out.
WHERE TO EAT
Casa Lucio: A classic, go for the ‘eggs of Lucio’ typical Spanish and must go.
Kabuki sushi: You know I love sushi and this Michelin star restaurant inside the Hotel Wellington has one of the best sushi in Madrid. Order the raw shrimp sushi!
Lateral: My favourite tapas place in Madrid, go to the one in Calle Velazquez and sit in the terrace, best for people watching! Make sure to order the tortilla de patatas!
Tenconten: Always an excelent choice. Beautiful restaurant with beautiful people. The place is top and has managed to mantain itself betweeen the top restaurants regardless of all the new openings every month. My favourite dish here the truffle risotto.
Quintín: Super cute restaurant to have a cool lunch with friends or afternoon tea ie glass of wine. The decoration makes you feel as if you are in a local market shop. Order the Burrata with tomato !
Random: New it place to have dinner in Madrid. Perfect for a night out since you can move to the bar area in the same restaurant! Who said champagne?
I have discovered the ultimate way to move around here and is called Cabify, just so that we understand, is the Spanish version of Uber. Download the app and use it around town, much cheaper than the taxi plus you get the comfort of a private driver and payment via app.
Hope you like my recommendations and enjoy Madrid! Hasta la vista!
