Thanks to my traveling summer island-tour, I’ve had time to research and compare what’s hot this summer. After a laborious study using my algorithm of location, people, places and food my award for the coolest happening place is for…MYKONOS! Welcome to the perfect getaway for some summer fun. With its little white houses and cristal clear waters together with the most fun beach clubs this island is, so far, my best trip this summer. All thanks to one of my best friends, my IPG Charlotte, for celebrating her bday here and gathering all her army from all around the world for a four day celebration. What I’m gonna show you are the top hotspots, RoviTravel guaranteed, in Mykonos!
HOW TO GET HERE:
This is no easy job, and maybe that’s what makes the island special. The direct flights to Mykonos are rare and at bad timings such as 5 in the morning. Sometimes the only way to access is through Aegean airlines via Athens. In my opinion, try to get a direct flight but if you cannot, Aegean has the best service on board, the Greek people are super nice. Can you believe with our half an hour delay they gave us another free ticket to fly with Aegean whenever we want. Any other airline reading this? You could learn something from the Greeks!
WHERE TO STAY:
I’m gonna give you three options depending what your plan is.
Cavo Tagoo: Number 1 hotel in Mykonos. Super luxury and top service. If you are here in a couple’s getaway or simply to tan and have some quiet days this is your choice.
Kouneni Apartments: The best of these apartments is the location. Located in the heart of the city next to Louis Vuitton and the clubs Astra and Bomboniere. Stay here if you want to party and don’t mind being in the center of the crowds.
Nazos Hotel: This small family owned hotel is a traditional Greek Villa at the city center with the advantage that is off the crowds. If you want a more chill stay but still be close to the party scene with an excellent personalised service this should be a great option for you!
WHAT TO DO:
Enjoy walking around the city Chora and visit the many boutiques with cool swimsuits, sunglasses, sandals and all the fashionable clothes you can imagine. My top recommendation is you go online and get yourself a Helmer Bag for this summer, very cool (it bag at the moment girls!)
Caprice Have a drink in this Cafe with the best views to the sea, perfect to catch a beautiful #instasunset. Also go to Aroma, a cute little cafe for iced coffe while you are shopping.
Nammos Following the color blue, this is my all time favoutire beach club in Mykonos. Get on a sunbed and later book a table for lunch at the restaurant that will soon turn into a club where you dance to the best beats of the summer on the table!
SolyMar This beach club is supposed to be the chilled one, tan by the sunbeds while you sip iced coffee and move to restaurant only to end up dancing on the table again!! We had the best Wagyu beef that you cook yourself on a hot stone, try it!
Scorpios The most beautiful of them all, this beach club offers the most privacy as its composed of cabanas, ideal for a group, don’t miss out the party on sundays!
Alemagou This beach club is most known for its party on friday afternoon bringing the best djs from all around the world. While you party they serve trays with burgers and grilled lobsters to charge batteries ! What a great combo right?
WHERE TO EAT:
In all of the above beach clubs, order Greek Salad, when I am in Mykonos I have to eat it every day because the rest of the year I just can’t find it anywhere that tasty. Also a must anywhere you go is to order the super amazing Greek grilled cheese called Halloumi.
Sea Satin: Perfect for dinner, right under the famous windmills, you will also end up dancing on the table!!! What to eat here, well the typical Greek food that is delicious and super healty, seafood etc and I recommend specially on this place that you have the lobster Pasta. Top top.
Remezzo: Cool restaurant in the old part of the city where you will enjoy the best views and … you will also dance on the table! The best to order here is the Salmon and tuna tartars, yummyyyy!
Basic words in Greek you need to know: “Kalimera” means good morning, “Parakalo” means please/you are welcome and “Efharisto” means thank you.
The typical drink here is called Mastika, white transparent Greek liquor to be drank in form of shots. And the way to say cheers is “Yamas”!! Enjoy!
And this one for the ladies! When you come to Mykonos you should ONLY wear flat shoes! High heels are not welcome in the island! Why? Because of the tiny stone streets and walks you need to take to go anywhere in town. Come on let’s go back to dancing 😉
